Gandhi Institute for Computer Education

BRIEF BACKGROUND: Gandhi Institute of Computer Education and Information Technology was founded in the year 1996 under the aegis of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Mumbai with a mission, vision and objective to uplift and empower especially those members of the society who are educationally and financially deprived in obtaining digital literacy. It imparts FREE computer education. The courses include Accounts Assistant Course, office assistant course, Desk top publishing course.

The above program had been sponsored/funded by various donors like Dr. Hogen Fukanaga, Melinda Gates Foundation, IBM Microsoft, Siemens & Hans Foundation.

At Jaipur Kendra the Gandhi Institute of Computer Education and Information Technology was established on April 28, 2000.

It is being housed in the basement of Maharana Pratap Auditorium. It is fully air conditioned and has 16 computers. The admission to the courses is based on merit and need. There are two faculties who conduct the courses. The duration of each course is 3 months and the training capacity is 120 people per session.

At present the courses being run are:
1.  Office Assistant (3 Months)
2.  Desk Top Publishing (DTP – 3 Months)
3.  Accounts Assistant (Tally ERP 9 – 3 Months)

3 Months (Alternative Days)
Timings: Thrice a Week (Two Hours Class)

Admission Times: January, April, July, October (Jaipur Centre)

At present 84 trainees are enrolled in different courses and undergoing digital empowerment through the above programs.
