The foundation stone of the Bhavan’s Maharana Pratap Auditorium and Beri Sadan was laid by Honorable Justice J.S. VERMA The Chief Justice of India on 27th September 1997. Shri Bhairon Singh Shekhawat the then Chief Minister of Rajasthan presided over the function in the presence of Shri S. Ramakrihnan Executive Secretary & Director General Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Mumbai.

The INAUGURATION Ceremony was held on June 9, 2001. four years after the foundation laying SHRI R. VENKATARAMAN (President of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Mumbai & Former President of India) inaugurated the auditorium and the function was PRESIDED BY H.E. JUSTICE ANSHUMAN SINGH Governor of Rajasthan. Bhavan’s Maharana Pratap Auditorium, Beri Sadan has acquired a name for itself.

Bhavan takes pride in having this spacious, modern, artistically and technically constructed auditorium. This edifice in one of its kind in Rajasthan. It has a capacity of almost 800. Its push button seats are fitted with such a technique as to make every one in the hall feel very near to the centre stage. The person sitting on the farthest seat also feels proximity to the stage because the seats are constructed at 35 degree to the stage. Inner decoration of the auditorium with its false ceiling, though simple, is very attractive. Its acoustic system is wonderful. The dimension of the stage is 40’ x 30’. The curtains can be operated through an automatic machine both from the stage and from the control room.

It is widely used by Jaipur Kendra to conduct its in- house programs and is hired by outside agencies as well for cultural programs, annual days, talk shows, theatre activities , seminars and so on.

In the past 21 years it has witnessed several landmark programs including the visit of the President of India Late Dr. Abdul Kalam. Several noted artists and stalwarts from different fields have performed in our auditorium. The auditorium conducts nearly 256 programs in a year.
